Purple Certificate Project is an initiative of “United Nations Joint Program for Promoting the Human Rights of Women and Girls” for high school teachers. Conducted by Sabancı University and United Nations Development Program, United Nations Unit of Gender Equality and Women's
Empowerment and financed by the Sabancı Foundation, the project aims at promoting gender awareness and developing human rights of women and girls. The project will be organized in 11 districts (Aydın, Çanakkale, Edirne, Erzincan, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Kastamonu,
Kayseri, Kocaeli, Ordu) between 2012 and 2015.
This year, the Purple Certificate Program will host 48 high school teachers from Aydın, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Kayseri and Kocaeli districts between the dates of July 24-29, 2013 at Sabancı University Tuzla Campus.
About the Purple Certificate Program
The Purple Certificate Program is a gender awareness education program for high school teachers. The program has a rich content which covers a variety of topics from the representations of femininity and masculinity in media and textbooks to women's movement; from mental health of adolescents to violence and sexual harassment.
In addition to training modules, the program offers various workshops in which high school teachers will develop and implement their own project proposals on gender issues.
