The FELISE (FEmale Leadership in SciencE) Mentoring Programme, which is adopted by six universities and research institutions across Europe, brings together senior researchers and women PhDs who are interested in pursuing an academic career for an exchange of information and experiences. The programme addresses the striking imbalance between the numbers of men and women in the highest levels of academia by creating institutional and inter-institutional mentoring opportunities for junior researchers. 


WE ARE LOOKING FOR MENTORS!


Are you a senior researcher in the sciences, social sciences and humanities (full-time or part-time) working at Sabancı University?

Would you like to contribute to supporting junior women scholars at Sabancı University in their career progression?

Would you like to become an agent of change and learn more about how to foster institutional change for achieving gender equality in academia?

Would you like to be part of an international network of researchers supporting women scholars in Europe?


WE ARE LOOKING FOR MENTEES! 


Are you a woman PhD in your early post-doctoral years working at Sabancı University and wanting to pursue an academic career?

Would you like to foster institutional and individual change to eliminate the barriers that hamper women’s progression in academia?

Are you interested in receiving support from a senior researcher from Sabancı University to plan your career advancement?

Would you like to be part of an international network of researchers supporting women scholars in Europe?


GOALS: 

oFast-tracking mentees’ career paths by helping them to better understand organizational norms and practices, internationalize their work, connect with new professional networks, learn about funding resources and publication practices, and access information on  transferable skills. 


oBringing together  agents of change who are interested in working towards greater gender equality in universities 

oSupporting institutional change towards gender equality in academia.


 

The 7-month long mentoring program is structured and coordinated by the GEARING-Roles project and combines intra and inter-institutional approaches. The participants will be 5 mentors/sponsors and 5 mentees from the following institutions:

o University of Deusto (ES)

o Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning-University of Lisbon (PT)

o University of Ljubljana (SI)

o Sabancı University (TR)

o Oxford Brookes University (UK)

o Estonian Research Council (EE)
