Şirin Tekeli Research Awards, organized by SU Gender will be given for the 6th time this year. The awards panel and ceremony will be organized within The International Gender Studies in Turkey Conference that will take place on December 9-10, 2023 in İstanbul. The conference will be held for the first time this year, and it aims to create a platform where current research on Turkey and gender studies in Turkey will be presented, discussed and researchers will meet at regular intervals.
The conference will take place between 09.00-18.30 (UTC+3) for two days at Minerva Han in Karaköy. Following the welcome and keynote speeches, parallel sessions and award sessions will be held. The conference will start with the welcome speeches and will continue with the keynote speech given by Feride Acar. In 3 parallel sessions to be held afterwards, topics such as body and technology, work and labor, literature, migration, politics, arts, law, youth, advocacy and solidarity, ecology, masculinities, emotions and affect, religion, sexualities, resistance, city and space, reproductive politics and motherhood will be discussed. In the last session of both days, the panel and award ceremonies of the awards organized by SU Gender will take place. This year's Dicle Koğacıoğlu Article Award will find its owners in the session that will start at 17.00 on Saturday, December 9th, and the Şirin Tekeli Research Award will find its owners in the session that will start at 17.00 on Sunday, December 10th.
